Job Summary:
The Network Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure. This role involves managing network components, ensuring network availability, and optimizing network performance. The Network Infrastructure Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement network solutions that align with business requirements and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
1. Design, implement, and maintain the organization's network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and data center networks.
2. Configure and troubleshoot network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
3. Monitor network performance, identify and resolve network issues, and perform root cause analysis.
4. Ensure network availability and reliability by implementing appropriate redundancy and failover mechanisms.
5. Collaborate with internal teams to gather network requirements and propose network solutions.
6. Evaluate and recommend network technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance network efficiency and security.
7. Conduct network assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and propose necessary remediation actions.
8. Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and VPNs.
9. Participate in network capacity planning and perform network traffic analysis to optimize network performance.
10. Maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
11. Provide technical support and guidance to other IT teams and end-users regarding network-related issues.
12. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network engineering.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a Network Infrastructure Engineer or similar role.
3. Strong knowledge of network protocols, technologies, and architectures (e.g., TCP/IP, VLAN, MPLS, BGP, OSPF).
4. Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting network devices, including Cisco routers and switches.
5. Familiarity with network security technologies, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs.
6. Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools, such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or Nagios.
7. Solid understanding of network design principles, including network segmentation and high availability.
8. Ability to analyze complex network issues and provide effective solutions.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
10. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
11. Relevant certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Juniper Networks Certified Professional (JNCIP), are a plus.
